Kitchen Table is local-first. Your apps and their data live on your own machine and never touch our servers unless you turn on the paid relay. We collect the minimum needed to run your account, and we never sell your data or read your app content in Strict mode.
What stays on your device
On the free Local tier, everything stays on your Mac: your source folders, each app's storage, device pairings, and access logs. This data is served directly to the devices you approve over your local network and never leaves your machine.
What the relay sees
If you enable the relay for an app, what we can see depends on the mode you chose. In Strict mode the relay only ever handles ciphertext and routes by hostname — we cannot read your content. In Standard mode, TLS terminates at our edge so we can technically process your content in order to serve a snapshot; that snapshot is encrypted at rest and deleted when you turn the relay off.
We log connection metadata (timestamps, coarse region, app hostname) for reliability and abuse prevention, and retain it for 30 days.
Account & billing
Paid plans require an email address and are billed through our payment processor, which handles your card details — we never store them. For Team plans we also store member emails and roles you invite. That's the extent of the personal data we hold.
Analytics & cookies
The desktop app sends no telemetry by default; anonymous crash reports are opt-in. This website runs no analytics at all — no tracking scripts, no advertising cookies, and no cookies of any kind. If that ever changes, it will be said here first.
Your rights
You can export or delete your account data at any time. Deleting your account removes your billing record and any relay snapshots within 30 days. Questions or requests? Reach us below.
